GREYHOUND BASKETBALL CAMP
Basketball Instruction At Its Finest!
WHY IS THE OVERNIGHT 5 DAY SESSION NOW A DAY CAMP? We feel that we can best serve our basketball campers in the future with a day camp. Most of our campers are local and have other school team and personal obligations at night. We can contain and reduce our costs with a day camp. At the same time we can offer an excellent basketball instruction and competition program with just morning and afternoon sessions. We will continue to be committed to excellence.
HOW CAN MY SON HAVE AN OVERNIGHT CAMP EXPERIENCE? You can enroll him in our Post/Perimeter instructional camp where he will receive excellent instruction in skills for his position.
WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY? If you notify us up to 1 month before the camp session we will refund all camp fees that you have paid for whatever the reason. If you notify us up to 2 weeks before the camp session we will refund all fees paid except for a $50 fee to cover our expenses and costs. Within two weeks of the camp session we will refund all fees paid except for a $100 fee to cover our expenses and costs. If there is an injury or emergency within the month, the $50/100 will be applied to any camp attended by any family member in the next year. We feel that this is a fair policy, especially compared to most other camps. Remember that we have many fixed costs relative to staffing and equipment.
ARE ALL ROOMMATE CHOICES FOR THE POST & PERIMETER CAMP GUARANTEED? Yes. if you both choose each other. If your choice of a roommate chooses another camper we will call you to check on what you want to do. Rooms are designed for two people but if we put up a bunk bed, then 3 can fit in a room. We can not put 4 people in a room since they will be in two rooms right next to their friends. All friends will be grouped together upon request if they are a similar age.
HOW MUCH MONEY SHOULD CAMPERS BRING? All basic costs are included in the cost of camp. There will be no additional charges. The amount of money to bring is a personal choice. Most campers like to have some spending money. We have a camp store with basketball gear & snacks. We can keep the money safely in the camp bank as a service and campers will be able to withdraw the money as needed. All camp bank monies will be returned at the end of camp.
HOW ARE CAMPERS GROUPED? Campers are grouped by a combination of age and ability for both instruction and competition. We are staffed for approximately 8 players on a team or group. We work very hard at organizing the teams so that they are competitive.
WHAT IS THE SUPERVISION LIKE? We take supervision of the campers very seriously. Most of our staff are housed in the dorms with the campers. Jim Walker is the dorm supervisor and stays in the dorm as well. Campers are well supervised at all activities. Also, there is very little free time at camp. Moravian College is a safe community that has its own police force that is on patrol at all times. During most of our camp sessions there is another camp of similar age so there are lots of people around.
WHAT IF A CAMPER DOES NOT LIKE THE FOOD? At Greyhound Basketball Camps we use the excellent Moravian College food service. You will always be able to find something you like since there are many choices. The food service can even prepare special diet menus. Our campers always comment on how much they like the food. The dining hall and the student union building are air conditioned.
WHY ARE THERE DEADLINES FOR THE PAYMENT OF BALANCES? We like to collect as many of the balances as possible to speed up the check in process. If a balance is not paid we will simply collect it at check in. There is no need to rush it to us or to worry about it if you forget or are late registering. There is no need to call us. No one will be kept out of camp for late payments.
WHAT IS THE STAFF LIKE? We have a great staff that includes a mixture of experienced coaches as well as excellent college players. Many of the staff are teachers. Most of our staff return from previous years. We require that all of our staff have one thing in common-that they care about the campers' development as basketball players.
ARE THERE DISCOUNTS FOR FAMILIES/GROUPS/TEAMS? There is a $15 discount for all sibilings from the same family for each session attended. This $15 discount also applies to children of all employees and alumni of Moravian College. For groups or teams of 5 or more who register together or who let us know about the group there is a $20 discount for each camper in the group for each session attended. These discounts cannot be combined.
